MEDICAL: Physicians will be providing basic medical care to indigenous people groups. All physicians need to bring is their medical bag. Everything else will be provided.
DENTAL: Dentists will be doing tooth extractions, not restorative work. Dental care is usually unavailable to the people we see; hence, many of them have extensive caries. The dentists will coordinate their equipment needs prior to the specific trip.
DENTAL ASSISTANTS: Cleaning of instruments and applying fluoride treatments.
PHARMACY: Our needs are not only for pharmacists or pharmacy techs with experience but also for anyone willing to help distribute medications in the pharmacy. Experience is not necessary. There is work before the trip sorting, packaging and labeling medicine.
PATIENT TRIAGE: We need nurses working in triage and with our doctors seeing and evaluating our patients.
TRANSLATORS: We prefer to take our translators with us. If you are bilingual, you are qualified.
CHILDREN'S MINISTRY AND CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES: Parents often wait several hours with their children to be seen in the clinic. Individuals who like to work with children can be of tremendous help with the flow of the clinics. It is a significant benefit for parents when their children are being entertained and are having a good time. We have many activities planned with the children.
CROWD CONTROL/PATIENT FLOW: We may see a few hundred patients in one day. Individuals who are willing to help keep people moving in the right direction from waiting area to triage to clinic to evangelism and finally the pharmacy are critical to the success of our overall efforts.
CONSTRUCTION: Some of the trips involve construction projects. Each project will have a construction manager. Anyone who can pick up a hammer is qualified to help. Sometimes small construction projects are done as directed by the local pastors.
EVANGELISM: Usually the local pastors are responsible for doing the clinic evangelism. However, we need individuals who enjoy sharing the Gospel message and praying with our patients.
PASTORS' CONFERENCES: Our pastors from Indian Creek Christian Church coordinate these conferences. They appreciate the help of other pastors or elders in preparing and giving these conferences.
